"The Dark Side of the Moon" Artwork Designer Storm Thorgerson Dies

Pink Floyd's 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon, is one of the most famous albums of all time for both it's music and for the album's artwork.

The man who created that artwork, Storm Thorgerson, died Thursday at the age of 70.

According to Thorgerson's family, the designer died peacefully while being surrounded by family and friends.

Storm designed the artwork for several Pink Floyd albums.  He also did work for Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and many other bands.

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour released this statement:

"We first met in our early teens. We would gather at Sheep's Green, a spot by the river in Cambridge and Storm would always be there holding forth, making the most noise, bursting with ideas and enthusiasm. Nothing has ever really changed.  He has been a constant force in my life, both at work and in private, a shoulder to cry on and a great friend. I will miss him."
