Download Festival Wants Led Zeppelin And Guns N' Roses

England's Download Festival took place over the weekend.  The headliners were Slipknot, Rammstein, and Iron Maiden.  Pretty big names in hard rock (especially across the pond).

But, festival organizer Andy Copping has his sights set on even bigger prizes.  Copping tells NME that he wants to reunite two of the biggest hard rock bands of all time, Led Zeppelin and Guns N' Roses.

The statement came when Copping was asked about booking Van Halen.  Copping said, "I’d love to get them, but who knows when? Maybe one year we can get them to come over and it’ll happen, I live in hope."

Copping proves that "hope" statement to be true.  His next line was a big one.  "You can’t rule any bands at that level out: Led Zeppelin, the original line-up of Guns N’ Roses, I’d love to get them, hopefully it’ll happen one day."

Led Zeppelin has played one full concert in over thirty years.  That was the 2007 reunion for their late record boss, Ahmet Ertegun.  The band has consistently turned down opportunities to play.

Copping could feasibly book Guns N' Roses.  The trick would be getting the orginal lineup together.  Axl Rose tours with a group of musicians with the name.  But, original players like Slash and Duff McKagan aren't involved.
